034 Initiative Density - Defense Procurement Revisited
Modern defence is no longer only a question of what a state can buy. It is becoming a question of how fast the whole system can learn.
QZJ episode 34, Initiative Density (original article/post) is a one-year follow-up to 030 Mission Command vs Swedish Defense Procurement Process. The episode looks at what has changed since then: Ukraine’s drone war has made fast battlefield learning central to modern defence, while Sweden has begun accelerating purchases of drones, counter-drone systems, air defence, and related capabilities. The question is whether faster procurement is enough. The episode argues that the decisive measure is now initiative density: how quickly a defence system can turn evidence into adaptation, training, software, production, deployment, and better decisions. Listen to the episode for the full argument.
